I am so glad you are here. Welcome!

Hello, I am Rebekah Balch

I am a lifelong music enthusiast and enjoy attending concerts both locally and while traveling. I’m an animal lover with three cats and a fondness for birdwatching. Outside of my work, I value time with my family, listening to music, audiobooks, and reading . I also enjoy discovering new restaurants and unwinding with a compelling series—especially true crime.

Like many of the clients I work with, I have personally experienced anxiety and have learned effective tools to manage it and move toward a more fulfilling life. This lived experience informs my belief that meaningful change is possible, and it motivates my desire to support others in creating the lives they want.

I am especially passionate about working with individuals who hold non-traditional mindsets—outsiders, free thinkers, “geeks,” and those who exist outside of mainstream culture. I am affirming of subcultures and the LGBTQ+ community, and I have experience working with individuals in traditional, open, ethically non-monogamous (ENM), and polyamorous relationship structures. My practice is grounded in providing a safe, inclusive, and affirming environment for all.

I began my career in mental health as a non-traditional student and have worked in residential and community mental health settings prior to establishing my private practice. These experiences have allowed me to work with individuals across a wide range of mental health concerns and levels of functioning. I take pride in my ability to tailor therapy to meet the unique needs, strengths, and goals of each person I work with.

What’s it like to work with me?

Therapy of any kind can be tough. That is why you are here, to explore some difficult concerns, and work to improve on this. Therapy with me is an active experience. I will ask you many questions to get to know you and get a good understanding of why you are seeking therapy. The first several sessions are the “get to know you” sessions. From there, we will work together to develop and work on a treatment plan tailored to you.

I generally use a combination of CBT, DBT, and schema therapies, with a sprinkle of mindfulness, ACT, and talk therapy. I can be supportive, validating and challenging. I believe therapy does not stop when you leave the office, therefore I have been known to give exercises to be practiced between sessions.

I pride myself in being human and letting my personality show. I use humor when appropriate. I have been told I am pretty “down to earth”. That doesn’t mean I can’t get clinical, but love to break things down in an easy to understand way.
